Monster Energy Honda Team riders have taken the top three positions on stage three of the 2020 Dakar. Ricky Brabec, Jose Ignacio Florimo, and Kevin Benavides completed the second half of the event’s Super Marathon stage on top despite a GPS issue that affected all competitors and resulted in many of the front runners being unable to find a waypoint. Event organisers acknowledged the issue and made the decision to take the results from kilometre-389, rather than the final 427-kilometre mark as originally planned. Matthias Walkner finished as the top KTM rider in fourth, with stage one winner Toby Price in fifth. Stage two winner Sam Sunderland placed 14th, dropping the Englishman from first in the general standings to ninth. Ricky Brabec now leads the general standings with Toby Price improved his position from ninth at the end of stage two, to sit in sixth place after stage three
