Two Aussies to race at Phillip Island

 Both Aussies will take to the track at their scenic home race, with the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team confirming the 35-year-old Hunter Valley local, Parkes, will stand in for Jonas Folger.
 
Queensland MotoGP rider, Miller, from EG 0,0 Marc VDS announced he will be racing at Phillip Island, an incredible 28 days since breaking his leg in a training accident in Andorra.
 
With just four days to go until the Michelin Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2017, Miller’s miraculous recovery should be embraced by fans and they are encouraged to make their way to Phillip Island from 20 – 22 October to show their support.
 
With injury a risk in any elite athlete’s career, Miller has been the ultimate professional throughout his recovery and was determined to race at his home MotoGP.

 
“My recovery has been going really well; I feel extremely positive that I’ll be back on the bike this weekend at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit,” said Miller.
 
“It was a tough decision not to race at the Japanese MotoGP, however it was necessary to ensure I was in the best possible form for Phillip Island. I can’t wait to get back out there in front of my home crowd!”
 
Miller heads into the Michelin Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2017 in thirteenth place on the World Championship leader board.
 
Both Marc Márquez and Andrea Dovizioso have won five events this season and the Championship appears to be a battle between the two of them.
 
Miller’s rapid recovery follows in the path of Italian MotoGPf4 rider Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) who was back racing his bike just 21 days after fracturing his tibia and fibula in a training accident in Italy.
 
With three rounds to go until the season wraps up, in the current standings Spaniard Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda Team) is leading on 244 points, followed by Italian Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) on 233 points and Spaniard Maverick Viñales (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) on 203 points.

Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO, Andrew Westacott, said fans will be thrilled to have their hometown hero confirmed.

With the World Championship standings across MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 all still alive, Westacott encouraged fans to be there in at the circuit to soak up all of the on-track drama and atmosphere.
 
“Fans are in for a blockbuster weekend of motorsport action with riders set to put it all on the line in their quest to seal the World Championship with only two rounds remaining following Australia. Pride will also be on the grid for Marquez and Dovizioso with both of the gentleman tied on five wins a piece for the season.”
 
“The weather forecast is looking great for racing which will only add to the fan experience,” continued Westacott.
