While a Euro 4 update of the Hayabusa, GSX-R600 and 750 is great news, they will be overshadowed by Suzuki’s turbocharged parallel twin, slated for production in its 2019 range and to be revealed before the end of 2018. Unlike the original Recursion concept, which offered 75kW from a 588cc, sohc twin, the production version will use the twin-cam 700cc XE7 engine. It’s hard to guess power without knowing the boost, but it’s likely to nudge 112kW. Despite that, it’s not an out-and-out superbike and won’t carry a GSX-R badge. Instead, it’s expected to be called the GSX-700T and to have a broader, all-round appeal – more of a steroid-injected SV650S.
All of these machines are expected to be launched in 2018 and the Hayabusa, GSX-R750 and GSX-R600 could reach dealers before the year is out.
