2016 Triumph Trophy 1215

Triumph’s Trophy model was first unveiled back in 1960, but it wasn’t until 1992 that it was graced with a 1200cc in-line four-cylinder engine. There was a break in production from 2003 until 2012, when the model was re-released with a 1215cc triple from the Triumph Tiger Explorer. In addition to its sportier styling and more powerful mill, this new generation of the Trophy also copped electronic suspension front and rear, shaft drive and a cranking sound system.

What it’s got

The Triumph Trophy 1215 is powered by a liquid-cooled, 1215cc, transverse, DOHC, three-cylinder, fuel-injected, four-stroke engine with four valves per cylinder. Power runs through a six-speed constant-mesh gearbox. The front suspension is a WP 43mm USD fork with 127mm of travel and electronically adjustable rebound damping. The rear swingarm has a WP monoshock with 100mm of travel and electronically adjustable preload and rebound damping. ABS-assisted braking is handled by two 320mm discs on the front wheel clamped by four-piston calipers, and a 282mm disc at the rear clamped by a two-piston caliper. The fuel tank holds 25 litres.
