One of motorcycling’s more bizarre pieces of memorabilia comes up for auction on October 13 and 14 at the UK’s Staffordshire Country Showground.
Harry Rembrandt ‘Rem’ Fowler’s hip flask, awarded following his success at the inaugural Isle of Man TT in 1907, will be offered at Bonhams Autumn Stafford Sale in the UK.
The engraved commemorative silver hip flask in a protective leather case was awarded by supporter H.G. Parkes Esq. It is expected to sell for $35,000 to $50,000.
Bonhams says the flask is “a fitting prize for the driver who gained Dutch courage from a brandy tonic to soothe his pre-race nerves”.
