Four-time World Supersport Champion Kenan Sofuoglu has set a new land speed record for a production motorcycle by reaching 400km/h on a Kawasaki H2R. The record attempt took place at the newly constructed Osman Gazi span bridge which crosses the Gulf of Izmit, 50km from Istanbul. The Turkish rider trained for four months leading up to the world record and working from research that an early morning attempt had the greatest chance of success, the run took place at 5am. The risk of highspeed tyre failure meant he had just 30 seconds to reach the record speed.
