As predicted by AMCN, Kawasaki unveiled its new H2 SX supercharged tourer at this year’s EICMA show in Milan.
Powered by a 998cc inline-four cylinder engine, it’s considerable 200hp of claimed peak power is facilitated by a different type of supercharger than its high performance namesake.
According to the Japanese brand, it makes for a lighter engine and, important for a tourer, a far cooler engine, too.
The trellis frame needed to be reengineered to accomodate the passenger and the panniers and with significantly improved fuel efficiency, the 19-litre fuel tank is cited as offering great touring range.
While the (black only) base model boasts a bevy of electronic rider aids, such as corner brake control, traction and wheel lift control, engine brake control as well as ABS, switchable power modes and cruise control, you’ll need to upgrade to the SE model if you’re after a quickshifter, launch control and the brand’s first-ever TFT colour instrument panel.
Other difference between the two models are LED cornering lights, which are built into the front of the fairing side panels and activated by a lean-angle sensor, fancy green paint and what the firm refers to as “higher level of quality”.
