Editor Dobie has just arrived in Varese, Italy, for the world launch of MV Agusta’s newest model, the Turismo Veloce Lusso SCS. The SCS stands for Smart Clutch System which means you do not need to reach for the clutch lever when stopping or to pull away.
The SCS disengages when the revs fall to a certain point and engage again when revs rise. If you as still want to ride in the traditional manner, the Veloce Lusso does have a clutch lever which becomes operational at the flick of a switch. It also has a parking brake to stop the bike from rolling away in SCS mode. That’s the simplified explanation of how the system works; Dobie will have all the technical details in his launch feature.
The Turismo Veloce Lusso SCS is MV Agusta’s touring model. It features semi-active electronic suspension and is powered by an updated version of the company’s popular triple cylinder 800cc engine, producing 81 kW (110 hp) at 10150 rpm.
Look for regular video and photo updates from the world launch of the new model over the next few days, followed by our first ride impressions. The full test feature will appear in an upcoming issue of Australian Motorcycle News magazine.
