Triumph’s MotoGP involvement has formed the basis of a new, more powerful but Euro5-ready Street Triple RS. The UK manufacturer claims it sets a new benchmark in the performance naked segment and is built for both the road and track days.
Key elements of the Moto2-inspired RS will appear on an updated version of the current LAMS Street Triple S, which will go on sale in Australia and New Zealand before the rest of the world.
Over 60 Triumph-approved accessories include scrolling LED indicators, styling options and luggage.
The 765cc Euro5 compliant triple was developed Triumph’s Moto2 engine team and features increased peak torque (79Nm at 9350rpm), which includes 9 per cent more in the mid-range, just where road riders want it. Peak power is also boosted 9 per cent to 90.5kW at 11,750rpm. It comes with a more responsive throttle and freer flowing silencer. Refinements to the gearbox involve lower first and second gear ratios allied to slip and assist clutch.
Triumph claims it’s the lightest bike in its class at 166kg dry. Premium equipment as standard includes Brembo M50 brakes, fully adjustable Öhlins suspension and Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3 tyres. Trademark headlights get the latest LED technology with “eye-brow” daytime running lights. Minimalist bodywork is more angular and comes in new matt colours.
Updated TFT functionality includes GoPro interaction, turn-by-turn navigation, as well as music and phone operation. There also is an up-and-down quickshifter along with riding modes covering road, rain, sport, track and rider configurable.
Pricing and availability have yet to be announced.
