Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez has been given the go ahead to amp up his training regime and get back onboard a motorcycle to assess the condition of his arm following his most recent checkup. The news points to the likelihood of the eight-time world champ being in attendance at the upcoming Misano test where he’ll be able to help steer the much-needed development of Honda’s RC213V ahead of the 2023 season.

Satisfied with the recovery of his right humerus, Marquez’s medical team have given their approval for Marc to further intensify his training which will involve increased weight and adding more varied exercises to his routine.
“Fortunately, Marc has regained a great arc of motion and has recovered well from a muscular perspective as well,” said Dr. Sanchez Sotelo from the Mayo Clinic’s division of shoulder and elbow surgery. “Today, he underwent radiographs and a CT scan that show complete bone union.”

Honda team manager Alberto Puig said it would “be very important” for the Spaniard to be able to offer feedback at the test, saying even as few as a handful of laps would be beneficial for the engineers.

“When I feel 70-80 percent, when I will feel that I can ride a MotoGP bike in a more-or-less good way, I will come back,” Marquez said during his press conference during the Austrian GP weekend. “Because for the last part of the rehabilitation, the best way is to be on the bike. You cannot wait to be at 100 percent before riding a bike.”

Despite missing seven of the season’s 13 rounds, Marc still remains Honda’s top performing rider this year. He’s currently 15th in the standings with 60 points. Taka Nakagami (45pts) is in 16th, ahead of Pol Espargaro (42pts) and Alex Marquez (29pts).
