Big K is joining the list of manufacturers aiming to including radar-assisted safety devices.
We’ve uncovered evidence that Kawasaki plans to fit front and rear radar, with the focus mainly on how to mount and hide the components rather than the underlying tech. As an existing Bosch customer it’s likely Kawasaki is planning to adopt the German firm’s technology rather than developing it from scratch.
Hiding radar units while ensuring they work efficiently is a challenge as they need a clear ‘view’ for their radar waves and the returning echoes.
Kawasaki’s solution is to mount the front radar at the base of the windscreen, with a rear unit sitting below the tail light.
We expect the system to include warnings to the rider and activate crash-mitigating braking if necessary.
