With almost 12 months having passed since first revealing details of its sharp-looking new 450SR, CFMoto Australia has finally announced pricing for the new LAMS-approved machine with the 450cc parallel-twin sportsbike expected to arrive on Australian showroom floors in April 2023 with a ride away price of $7990.
Based on the SR-C21 concept bike revealed back in 2021, the 450SR features an all-new 450cc parallel-twin cylinder DOHC engine, with a 270° crankshaft angle that promises to offer 90° V-Twin-like characteristics. The crankshaft design is matched to a double balance shaft for improved power delivery and vibration suppression, with lightweight forged pistons and split connecting rods also employed to enhance the engine’s responsiveness and improve durability.
The new engine features an FCC slipper clutch that is aimed at providing a lighter lever pull and reduced back-torque, keeping the rear tyre from hopping and locking up on downshifts.
The 450SR uses a lightweight chromium-molybdenum alloy steel frame and removable subframe setup that weighs in at just under 15kg. The concept bike’s single-sided swingarm has been replaced with a conventional dual-sided design.
CFMoto says that the 450SR’s styling was refined through extensive aerodynamic wind-tunnel testing, with more than 20 design options assessed over 30 hours of aero simulations.
The SR’s split front cowling design employs enlarged grooves, which, according to CFMoto, minimises drag-losses, while GP racing-derived aerodynamic winglets enhance stability by providing greater downforce at higher speeds.
The 450SR has a sportier riding position than the company’s 300SR, achieved through higher footpegs and lower clip-on handlebars, with the revised rider triangle allowing the rider to ‘tuck in’ behind the fairing.
The narrow profile synthetic leather-wrapped seat’s 795mm height should suit most riders, although shorter or taller riders have the option of purchasing 785mm or 815mm seat options.
If trackdays are your bag, the 450SR’s gearshift lever can be changed between the standard road-shift pattern and a race-shift pattern by simply changing the position of the linkage. Clutch and brake levers are span-adjustable.
The 450SR is equipped with non-adjustable inverted front forks, with a preload adjustable rising-rate monoshock rear-end with a multi-link setup.
Stopping power is provided by a four-piston radially mounted Brembo M40 monobloc caliper with a single 320mm floating disc on the front, with rear braking duties taken care of by a single-piston caliper paired with a 220mm disc.
The braking equipment is backed up by a Bosch 9.1 Antilock Brake System that can also be found on the Chinese manufacturer’s 800MT adventure tourer.
On the tech front, you’ll find a 5-inch TFT curved display equipped with CFMoto’s T-Box system that enables smartphone connection via Bluetooth and the CFMoto Ride App, the latter allowing access to an array of features including navigation; track lap times, ride history, and statistics; remote vehicle status, including a fuel indicator; the ability to conduct over-the-air software updates; new security features, including movement sensors, vehicle location and even set up a virtual electric fence to alert you of vehicle movement or theft. There’s also a handy USB port fitted to keep your device charged.
The 450SR will be available in two colour options – Nebular Black with Pearl White and Tosca Green accents or Zircon Black with Velocity Grey and Red accents) – and both of these will have the same $7990 ride away pricing. Like all CFMoto models the 450SR is backed by the company’s three-year unlimited kilometre warranty.
To sweeten the deal for would-be buyers, customers who pre-order and place a $500 deposit before 30 April 2023 will receive more than $650 worth of genuine 450SR accessories for free when their bike is delivered. These include:
- Single Seat Cowl
- Billet Clutch Lever
- Billet Brake Lever
- Front Axle Slider
- Rear Axle Slider
- 450SR Motorcycle Cover
Pre-orders can be placed through authorised CFMoto dealerships, over the phone or online via the dedicated 450SR website which you can find here. The online process features a simple step-by-step build process that allows you to nominate additional accessories you’d like to include on 450SR over and above the items already included in the launch promotion.
