Bathurst’s bid to build a new international-standard circuit has taken a step forward with designers starting groundwork design last week.
Apex Circuit Design director Dafydd Broom confirmed motorcycle racing would be an integral part of the track.
“One of the primary focuses for this track is for motorcycles,” Broom told local media.
“We’re not going to ignore the four-wheel vehicles, but given motorcycles haven’t raced at Mount Panorama within the last two decades, we really want to bring them back here at a world-class facility.”
A proposed start and finish date is still to be announced.

Meanwhile, designs for another new international-standard race circuit, this time in Western Australia, have been revealed.
A development proposal including a 3.5km circuit located 60km south of Perth in Keysbrook has been submitted by the Stati Group for approval by the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale. A two-stage/local-international-spec build has been cited for the project, which will be completed to FIA and CAMS standards.
