The Queensland Raceway round of the mi-bike Motorcycle Insurance Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK Round 3) presented by Motul never fails to deliver jaw-dropping races; last year, the total combined margin across the four Alpinestars Superbike and Michelin Supersport battles was just 0.4sec.
Heading into Round 3, championship leader Josh Waters (McMartin Racing Ducati) sits on 109.5 points ahead of Cru Halliday (Yamaha Racing Team) on 84, followed by Harrison Voight (McMartin Racing Ducati) on 82, Broc Pearson (DesmoSport Ducati) on 71.5, Mike Jones (Yamaha Racing Team) on 61.5, Cameron Dunker (Penrite Racing Yamaha) on 61.5, Max Stauffer (Penrite Racing Yamaha) on 60, Anthony West (Addicted to Track Yamaha) on 58.5 and Bryan Staring (MotoGo Yamaha) on 47 points.
After a disappointing Round 2 at SMSP, reigning champion Troy Herfoss (McMartin Racing Ducati) sits in 10th place. He is expected to arrive at Queensland Raceway from his King of the Baggers commitments in the US in plenty of time for the start of Round 3.
As well as Alpinestars Superbike, other categories competing this weekend include Michelin Supersport, Race and Road Supersport 300 and the bLU cRU Oceania Junior Cup.
In addition to a packed schedule of on-track action, fans can drop in on the popular ASBK Trade Alley, as well as the ASBK Fan Zone. Spectators can also grab an autograph from one of the ASBK ambassadors – Steve Martin, Troy Corser, Chris Vermeulen and Garry McCoy – while Corser and Martin will also give selected lucky patrons the ride of their lives in the ASBK Pillion Program.
