Queenslander Aiden Wagner has landed a prize world supersport ride for next season joining Team Lorini Honda and team mate Brit Kyle Smith for the 2017 Supersport World Championship.     Wagner will debut for his new team at Australia’s Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit, when the 2017 season kicks off with the Yamaha Finance round next Feb 24-26.

For the 2016 season, Wagner has raced with GRT Racing Team aboard the MV Agusta and secured some point-scoring finishes, including a season best 10th place at his home round of Phillip Island.

Phillip Island has been good for Wagner, and in fact in 2015 he made his debut in the world supersport category with a wild card ride at the island and finished an impressive 13th.

The 22 year old, from Wamuran just north of Brisbane, is not short of experience.  He won the Australasian Supersport Champion in 2014 and will bring a solid level of knowledge to the Italian based squad, who operate from Frosinone not far from Rome.

In 2016, Team Lorini achieved fifth in the championship standings with rider Smith, and are planning for an every stronger 2017 with the Aussie / Brit combination.

Wagner is excited about his 2017 rider: “I am proud to compete with Team Lorini Honda, a team with great professionalism and an excellent technical package. I will give everything to show my talent and hopefully entertain the fans.”

Wagner will debut with Tearm Lorini at the final pre-season test in Phillip Island from February 20-21, before kicking off the season three days later when the Supersport World Championship for 2017 begins on Feb 24 at the Australian round.   World supersport is the undercard to the Superbike World Championship, both featuring production based motorcycles.
