Official entries for the 2016 Adelaide Motorcycle Centre/IMS Adelaide 3 Hour will close this Saturday 5th November with the event just two weeks away. Interest is continuing to build surrounding the ‘3 Hour Race’ on Sunday 20th November while numbers for the support categories are also increasing for the minor races through Saturday and Sunday morning before the main event.
President of the Phoenix Motorcycle Club of SA, host club for the Adelaide 3 Hour, Rick Dowsett is looking forward to the impending event and continues to be impressed by the growth of the race weekend overall, attracting entries from both within South Australia and from around the country.
“We are getting very close to the 2016 Adelaide 3 Hour. It is looking to be another fantastic event, riders will be competing for a record amount of prize money with plenty of track time. With that, there will also be numerous attractions on and off the track for spectators to enjoy. It’s going to be a big weekend of racing and the Phoenix Motorcycle Club are looking forward to seeing as many competitors and spectators trackside as possible,” Dowsett said.
The event has already attracted the return of SA Motorcycles Kawasaki ZX10R pairing, Evan Byles and Dave Johnson who in 2016 will be looking to complete a hat-trick following wins in the Adelaide 3 Hour in 2014 and 2015. Byles and Johnson will benefit from a wealth of National and International experience as they enter the event as key favourites. Front-running Australian Superbike Championship competitor, Daniel Falzon will once again line-up aboard his Yamaha R1 alongside fellow SA rider Liam Wilkinson as the pair set out to challenge Byles and Johnson for the top step on the podium.
Returning from another campaign in Britain, Mount Gambier born Levi Day will add to the list of strong outright prospects for the Adelaide 3 Hour, being joined by young Supersport runner, Ted Collins who contested the Australian Supersport Championship throughout the year with Day and Collins will compete on a single bike team aboard a Suzuki GSX-R 600.
