Despite my promise to myself that I would get out and ride more in 2024, just for the fun of it, I haven’t been doing much of that on our long-term test CFMoto 450SR, which is a pity because the lightweight sporty is ideally suited to the twisty roads not far from my place.

I did go on one run, however, that I managed to record in complete detail thanks to the CFMoto app that I downloaded to my phone. It showed my entire route overlayed on a map, along with other information such as trip time, trip distance, number of times the bike was subjected to rapid acceleration and deceleration, number of times I had it cranked over and (blurred for the sake of my licence) maximum speed. The app also provides other handy info, such as the bike’s location, engine revs and overheat warnings, low-fuel alert and more. You can even use it to set up dashboard mileage and temperature units and display language. There’s also a vibration alert so you know if someone has bumped into or is trying to move your bike, and you can even set up a geofence.

Another distraction to riding was when a box full of genuine-accessory trick bits showed up at my place, which I’ve fitted to the 450SR. It included a tinted screen, fender eliminator, axle protectors, adjustable rearsets, and brake and clutch levers, all of which have now been fitted in a series of late-night workshop sessions. Installing the tinted screen was the easiest job and the rearsets the most involved.

Loads of goodies ready to fit to the 450SR

The screen was just a matter of undoing a couple of bolts but the rearsets involved the removal of the swingarm pivot bolt. This meant I had to raise the rear of the bike from the frame and take out the back wheel. Everything fitted nicely though and the new rearsets look fantastic.

I’ll tweak the footpeg position this weekend as I have a trackday booked at SMSP for next week. Fitting the fender eliminator was pretty straightforward although I did have to remove the rear bodywork to access the wiring for the licence-plate light and indicators. Again, it’s a good-looking bit of kit and it certainly tidies up the look at the rear of the 450SR.

As mentioned, I’m heading out to the ’Creek in a few days’ time with the 450SR and I’ll report back on that experience soon. As well as the ride itself, I’m looking forward to analysing the data afterwards on the CFMoto app.
