Leading up to this, I was dreading locating adventure specific gear specifically for women – enter Klim’s Altitude jacket. It’s rare to find decent motorcycle gear dedicated to women. It’s even rarer to find excellent quality, genre-specific motorcycle gear dedicated to women. And Klim appears to be all of those things. You know those items that just feel the business as soon as you pick it up? Well this is one of those items, you know you’re holding good quality kit.
Its list of features is long and impressive; Gore-Tex fabric – is anyone else noticing Gore-Tex is getting harder and harder to find? Biceps vents and underarm vents complemented by vertical vents in the back. There’s collar-to-shoulder fasteners for when it’s hot and you want an open collar that doesn’t flap. There’re four big external pockets, there’s five practical internal pockets – mesh ones, velcro ones, one that accommodates your headphones and even a hidden one for your personals or unmentionables.
The armour included is the top-quality D30 stuff, it doesn’t come with a thermal liner but the loose but tailored fit means it doesn’t matter with the right layering in winter and, while I’ve only used it twice so far, I know this jacket will be at the top of my list for a long time. Check back in a few months’ time for the full test review, but if you’re looking for some lesser-known but higher-quality motorcycle gear in the meantime – be sure to check out Klim gear. It really is the goods.
