Four-time WorldSBK Champion Jonathan Rea has received an honorary doctorate from University of Ulster for his contribution to sport.
Not only did the Irishman become the first-ever rider to win four consecutive WorldSBK titles last year, he equalled Doug Polen’s record of most wins in a single season.

“I am genuinely so pleased to receive this honorary degree,” Rea said. “While I did very well at school and was an A student, my passion for motorcycling and ambition to follow my dream of becoming a world champion meant that I didn’t get the chance to go to university like many of my family and friends.”
This year’s WorldSBK season kicks off here on Aussie soil over 22-24 February at Phillip Island.
