The annual Black Dog Ride starts next Friday, 17 August, and this year it’s the Northern Territory’s turn to host this worthwhile event.
Riders from around the country will descend on the town of Katherine, locate Katherine 300Km’s south of Darwin, where a Police escort will take riders on to Darwin for a charity lunch, and dinner on Saturday evening.
We’ve all heard of the Black Dog as being a symbol of depression, and the Black Dog Ride aims to raise awareness of this and help prevent suicide primarily in blokes.
The Black Dog Ride will be a nationwide event attracting well over 1000 riders from across Australia and this year, the NT has the honour of hosting this great event.
Earlier this year Darwin was to host a one-day ride for the local community, however, cyclone Marcus had other plans and the ride was cancelled.
It’s not too late to enter, and further details can be found on the website www.blackdogride.com.au
