The Sport Riders Club of Tasmania received a big boost recently with the completion of resurfacing at Baskerville Raceway, the first time the track has been resurfaced since it was established in 1958. The Baskerville Foundation, set up four years ago, has raised almost $1m, which will also go towards circuit refurbishments.
Club representative Mark de Jong was incredibly pleased with the recent work, saying, “we had our first event on the new Baskerville surface and it was amazing. Most people have dropped around two seconds per lap and it is ridiculously smooth, a true credit to all involved. Any bike riders who are looking to holiday in Tasmania, you should bring your bike across the Tasman and check it out. We think it would have to be the cheapest ride day in Australia.”
SRCT hold regular ride days and race meetings at Baskerville, with dates usually available once a month. Check www.srct.org.au for dates and more information.
