Melbourne speedway collector Rod Hunter is throwing open his warehouse doors to the public on April 22.

Fans of speedway, dirt track and flat track history are welcome to browse the collection and speak to Rod at 550 South Gippsland Highway, Lynbrook, Melbourne.

“I have focused on the racing dirt track bikes from 1975 to 1990,” says Rod. “This reflects my active race days in my early motor cross and my later speedway days in England.”

Rod prefers to describe the bikes, cars, engines and artifacts as a collection rather than a museum. Several of the bikes will be auctioned soon as Rod wants to get the collection to a more manageable size.

“The open day is focused around the same style as to the Broadford Bonanza,” said Rod, who provided several bikes for Jason Crump to demonstrate there, including a rare Hinckley Triumph American flat-tracker, of which he has two.

“The day will be a bunch of guys enjoying their bikes. All are welcome and I encourage them to bring their favourites to show and tell,” he said.
