Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati), Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) and Marco Melandri (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) contested the last  sectors of the second WorldSBK race at Motorland Aragon, with Davies and Rea the final protagonists on the final lap.

In winning Davies took his and Ducati’s first win of the year, halting Rea’s winning streak at five.

Melandri had a go at Rea late in the race after Davies had taken a small advantage but Rea re-passed and set about clawing back Davies.

He caught back up after a small error from the Ducati man on the final lap, but Chaz recouped lost ground and led again.

After a re-pass from Rea, a near clash exiting the left hand corner onto the back straight saw Davies come out best and hold an advantage to the line of 0.483 seconds.

Melandri was third, 2.479 seconds back, with Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) fourth after getting into the leading mix early on from his third row start.

Michael van der Mark (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) was third and his team-mate Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) was unlucky to run off while in the top five group and eventually finished 13th.
