It’s no surprise BMW’s G310R single is to be joined by a GS-style adventure bike next year and we understand that an RR-badged sports bike is also set to appear.
The G310GS has now been spied in final tests, completely undisguised in advance of its official unveiling at EICMA in November. The bike is revealed to use exactly the same engine and chassis as the current G310R, but with all the obvious ‘GS’ styling tweaks, including taller suspension, wide ’bars and the characteristic beak for a nose.
Some of the additional height comes from the front wheel, which is upped from 17 inches on the R to 19 inches on the GS, while the back appears to have been jacked up for more ground clearance. The engine is unlikely to be altered, so expect 25kW from the unusual reverse-cylinder motor.
In India, where the G-series bikes are built by BMW’s partner TVS, shots of a fully-faired sportsbike using the same chassis and engine have also shown up. It appears to be virtually identical to the TVS Akula 310 Concept that was shown earlier this year, but features the normal G310R exhaust instead of the concept’s race can. As with the GS, the frame, engine and suspension all appear to be near-identical to the existing G310R.
Could this be BMW’s 2017 WSS 300 contender perhaps?
